Solaris 10 VPN server/gateway setup Hi all, I have a V20z running Solaris 10 at home, and I would like to set it up as a VPN server. The Solaris 10 is behind a router with a reserved private IP assigned by DHCP and port forwarding set up for only SSH at the moment.
Solaris 10 does come with IPsec which can be used to set up VPN's between systems. That plus point to point tunneling can make a VPN. The CIsco VPN client is available for Solaris on Sparc, but not x86, if you are using Cisco compatible routers. Other those, there is nothing that I know of that is built in or readily available. When you uninstall the Solaris VPN Client, the contents of /etc/system are replaced with a copy of the file captured during the original VPN Client installation. Since another application could have been installed and made its own modifications to the /etc/system file, replacing it with an earlier version may disable the application. I have 5 offices in Texas VPN'd into our Seattle office where we have two Solaris Servers. I can ping the Solaris servers from within our Seattle office; however I cannot from the remote offices.
